Well, this week we had our first team come from Washington state. They will be here for another week. There
are thirteen gringos who speak minimal Spanish... and so when we hosted
them for dinner on Tuesday night (along with the rest of the family here) I helped out
in translating. It was difficult yet very exciting and fun!!
The team arrived on Monday and after they settled into their rooms, ate lunch, etc... we took them on a tour of Santiago...
The building/arch behind the palm tree was made by the same engineer who built the Eiffel Tower. It is the train station here in Santiago.

| Some Chile flags infront of the 'white house'... |
 |
| The president's office... or 'white house'. |
 |
| In front of the 'white house'... the 'white house' refers to where the president works...he doesn't live there like our president does in the states. |

The picture above is a view of Santiago from 'Cerro San Cristobal'. The drink in my hand is a common Chilean drink called 'Mote con Huesillo'...pretty much peach juice with barley in the bottom.
 |
| Jonathan enjoys some cotton candy at 'Cerro san Cristobal.' And yes, I got to finish it...oh my...it had been a while since I tasted cotton candy! |
 |
| At the very top of 'Cerro san Cristobal' you can climb some stairs and see the whole city. It was beautiful. |

Here in Chile the police officers are very respectable individuals who are truly concerned for the best of their country men...if someone offers them money as a bribe...they will be sent straight to jail.

Here are some pictures of the 'Carabineros de Chile'....(police)... the big bus is a riot bus. The carabineros pile in and drive up in the bus to break up riots.
Yesterday I was able to accompany a lady from the team and a couple
of native Chileans to the market... it was very interesting however I
forgot to bring my camera memory card and therefore I have no pictures
to share.
Today we will have a day mostly at
home....it shall be good to try and catch up on things here such as
cleaning and TEOSL (I'm putting that at the very bottom of my list).
